Medical examination before entering school

The medical examination for the child to enter school must be done by the end of November of the year before the child enters elementary school (shougakkou).

This examination will check the child’s growth and development status.

In the preschool medical examination are done:

1 – The eye exam.

2 – Hearing examination.

3 – Oral examination.

4 – Examination to check the child’s intellectual development.

When should the Preschool Medical Examination be done

The Preschool Medical Examination is a medical exam performed 5 to 6 months before the child enters elementary school. Formally, it is called a “school health examination.” On most occasions, the examination is performed at the elementary school where the child is intended to enter.

The examinations on the child are done with the presence and guidance of the guardian. The time required is approximately 2 to 3 hours, including the reception.
