Prefecture Offers Support for your Child

When your child turns one year old, the local municipalities will continue to provide you with assistance between them:

1 – Medical Exams 健康診査

2 – Medical Examination of the 5-Year-Old Child 5歳児健診

3 – Health check-up before school entry 就学前健診

The Medical Checkup for Children 1 year and 6 months old and the Medical Checkup for Children 3 years old are mandatory checkups determined by Japanese law. The content of these check-ups is: pediatric consultation, dentist consultation, and guidance on tooth brushing, health and nutrition guidance, among others. At the 2-year dental check-up, in addition to the consultation with the dentist, there is also guidance on tooth brushing and nutrition, among other topics.
